Firm Foundation
Jude 20–21: “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
Do you ever feel that the very ground beneath you shakes and makes you question so many things in your life? For example, when an earthquake happens, it shakes the very foundations of the earth, and people are in such disbelief at the aftermath that leaves so much rubble.
Today's word highlights what a firm foundation is: one that is immovable. I have always had this saying: circumstances can cause me to shake, but they will never cause me to lose my footing because my foundation is immovable. I may feel life swaying, but I remain steady.
Let today's word bring encouragement and use it to encourage others; not everyone we see is standing on a firm foundation in Christ Jesus.
We live in a world where every wind of doctrine is so familiar, almost like whispers that send us messages such as:
• “Be your true self.”
• “Whatever you feel is right.”
• “You don’t have to change.”
As women, we have to understand that these are false messages and are lies from the enemy. Ask yourself how many times we have heard these lies, claimed them as truth, and obeyed them.
The bible is clear: we have a real enemy; the enemy of your soul is Satan. His goal is to seek to kill, steal, and destroy everything in his path, including you. The Bible warns that in the last days, men and women will become lovers of themselves rather than lovers of God. They will be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and will turn their affections away from what God has designed for them.
But what we can anchor our hope in is that we have a Redeemer who has overcome it all
Therefore, Sisters, keep your heart and mind grounded in God’s Word and strengthened through prayer. Then, when lies come, you will be able to recognize them, call them out, and refuse to give them a place in your life.
As a believer, we have to contend for the faith- here is an important reminder in the book of Jude. In a world where everything is permissible, and the patterns of starting something but never finishing are common cyclical patterns, there is so much evidence today that there is a lack of respect for humanity and a lack of reverence for God.
The book reminds me of how we are called to live. Jude warns that some people may begin by living for God but later go their own way, choosing to believe their own version of truth. (Patterns) This is dangerous because, as stated earlier, there are so many versions of the truth today, but if it does align with the word of God, it is fallible.
The purpose of today's word is to get you the ultimate message
Salvation and the Word of God are not ours to redefine!
There is only one way to the Father and to heaven: through Jesus Christ. In verses 3–4, Jude urges believers to “contend earnestly for the faith”—the faith entrusted to all the saints.
Jude also warns about those who distort the grace of God. Grace is not earned by human effort; it is a gift. Yet it must never be twisted into permission to do whatever we please. God is holy, and His children are still called to holiness and separation from sin.
Through Jesus Christ, God has given us grace and forgiveness when we fall into sin. But grace is not a free pass to knowingly pervert God’s truth or live according to selfish desires. That way of thinking is not built on Christ as the cornerstone; it is built on self-will.
Sisters, let us remain grounded in Christ, devoted to God’s Word, faithful in prayer, and committed to the truth we have received.
Prayer
Father, I thank you today for your daughters who have been steadfast and immovable in their faith in you. God, I pray today that a fresh wind of fire would envelope their homes, lives, and communities. Let boldness for you, your word, and your kingdom overtake them like never before. You are coming soon, and the fields are white unto harvest. I also pray for those who have walked away, for those who have believed the enemy's lies, that you would draw them back to you right now. Back to right standing with you; don’t let them be lost. I pray for the ones who are weary, who have stayed, but are close to giving up. God, let them feel a fresh touch of your presence. God, teach us all how to remain on the firm foundation. Mend up any cracks that have come. Keep us in your perfect will.
In Jesus ' name
“Then He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in Peace.” Luke 8:48 (NIV)
