Trust

“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart, rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go.”

- Proverbs 3:5-6 (NPT)

Recently, I was reminded of the importance of trust. No matter how long you have walked with Christ, there are moments when trusting Him can seem difficult. Trust is the blind faith that we must have in God. So, why doesn't it come easily? It often comes down to unbelief and fear. Trust demands that faith arises, which becomes evident when we have a true relationship with the Lord. When we listen to what He says and to what His Word tells us, we embed those truths in our hearts and stand firm.

We often say, “You have to know the one you call Lord.” There is no other way. For example, when God told Elijah that the drought was over and rain was coming (1 Kings 18), Elijah humbled himself and prostrated himself before God. Although there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, Elijah heard the sound of rain by the spirit of God. He knew that if God said rain was coming, it would happen. So, he kept telling his servant to go look and report back.

The servant returned six times, seeing absolutely nothing. However, Elijah continued to tell him to go and look again. Finally, the servant saw a small cloud, which was enough for Elijah. He proclaimed, “Get ready; the abundance of rain is on its way.” Sometimes we must not question small things, for with God they lead to abundance and the greatest blessings. Trust works like this: believe even when you have only the faith of a mustard seed, that is all that is required to move the mountain before you.

What we can learn is to maintain our posture before God. Pray, praise, seek, and trust all at once, and witness the drought of unbelief lift from your life.

So trust in the Word, and let it remind you that we can simply trust in God. It is easy to call on the name of Jesus when everything is going well, and it is easy to claim we trust Him when there are no issues in our lives. But let me tell you, that is not true trust. Trust goes beyond saying the words or believing in the existence of God. It is a complete reliance on Him and His character.

Trust means welcoming adversities and challenges, trusting that God will respond in His way—and that His way is the best way. The scripture instructs us to rely on Him in every decision. Yes, you must trust Him to guide you through it all. Even when we fall short, we need Him in our victories, and we need Him even more in our sins and failures because He has the power to redeem us. This allows Him to strengthen our faith. So, stop beating yourself up over mistakes, doubts, and everything else weighing you down. He is God, and He wants you to know that He can bring about change if we trust in Him.

He desires to be present in your struggles. Ladies, as I write this, my heart aches for many of you who are experiencing discouragement, disappointment, and brokenness. Things may seem hopeless, but I want to encourage you: God is not a Heavenly Father who does not care; He will turn this around for you. He sees the effort behind every tear; nothing goes unnoticed. Great is the victory if you can place everything in His hands and simply say, “I cannot, God, so I trust that You can meet me here and help me see You work it out Your way.”

"But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." - Matthew 24:13.

Keep standing!

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you encourage your daughter and show up for her. Lord, open the eyes of her heart so that faith may arise within her. Help her to believe again; help her to hope again. Lord, get in the midst of her pain and lord over it and command the attacks that have been devised to hurt and destroy and discourage her; cease in your mighty name, Jesus. I speak the peace that surpasses all understanding to consume her now, and healing takes place within her and in every situation that concerns her. Bless your daughter, Father, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Then He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in Peace.”  Luke 8:48 (NIV)
