Positions
What does "position" mean biblically? In today's weekly word, we will express the importance of being in the right position. This means being in a precise location that aligns you with God's perfect will. Many people often ask the question, "Am I in the right place, Lord? Should I change churches? Should I change jobs?" These are questions we, as women, sometimes confront daily. I want to encourage you not to let your decisions be based on feelings or emotions. Instead, seek God's guidance in your choices. Always remember that everything assigned to your life has already been written. Position matters, and staying aligned is crucial for understanding why you are where you are. So, be encouraged today! Even when staying where God has placed you doesn't seem to make sense, remain there. Don't risk aborting your blessings or the instructions for your next steps. If you're unsure of what to do, simply ask yourself, "What was the last thing that God asked me to do?" Obedience unlocks the delays in our lives.
Sisters, when storms come and catch us off guard, or life tries to break us, we have a choice: stay in the same place we were knocked down, or get up and keep going to the next. We don’t understand why life happens the way it does at times. Often, the answer and the blessing connected are found in the next season or steps of the walk.
We read in Matthew where Jesus had been telling his disciples and friends that he was going to have to die. He told them that the body would be destroyed, but three days later it would be raised again. It’s not a surprise that most did not understand or believe that what he was saying would happen. When the soldiers hung him on the cross, and he gave his last breath, those around him were shattered and broken in sorrow. Matthew 27:55-56 (NKJV) “And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.” These women, it said, had followed him and ministered to him. I have no doubt those who were called mothers claimed him as one of their own. Here they are watching as what he said would happen takes place.
Other followers, after the death, walked away. Went back to their homes to grieve and mourn. Peter, the one that Jesus called “the rock” on which he would build the church, left before Jesus even died. When we read a little further, though, these women are still there. When Joseph takes Christ’s body and wraps it and places it in a tomb, vs 61 says “and Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.” They were still there to minister to Christ. Their hope and promise looked broken and lost, but they were still there to carry out their purpose in the position they were meant to be in.
Matthew 28 shows us the women going back to the tomb after the sabbath so they could attend to the body, and they find it empty. The women had an encounter with the Angel of the Lord, and that wasn’t the end. They are going home to tell the disciples, and Jesus shows up next to them on the way! How amazing and magnificent that must have been! Because they stayed in the position, they were meant to be; they had the encounter of a lifetime with the one who called them His own! He had told them, I must die, but three days later I will rise again and because of their position, they were the first to see it happen!
Whatever circumstances life has you in now, be encouraged to stay in the position you are called to be in because the Master of the Universe has an encounter waiting for you right around the next corner! So do not let excuses, fear, or emotions detour you. Get ready, things are about to shift in the mighty name of Jesus!
Prayer: Father, I pray today for everyone who is reading this. I ask that you encourage them to stay on course, not turning to the left or the right. Help them to remember that you hold everything in the palm of your hand and that you work all things together for the good of those who love you and are called according to your will and purpose. Remind them that your plans are ordained and established; do not let them relinquish the positions you have placed them in. In Jesus' name, Amen.
